Dan Parkes
Photography started as a way of holding onto time in the bush, bringing moments home and sharing a way of seeing.
I've always felt most at home out there. As a kid I was chasing snakes and watching birds, drawn to movement, stillness and everything in between.
The work comes from returning. Walking, waiting, and letting the day unfold. Some of it is planned, most of it isn't. That's where the honesty sits.
I'm drawn to both scale and intimacy, wide country at first light, or a moment where wildlife meets the lens.
The bush isn't a backdrop to me. It's living, layered, and holds stories far beyond my own. This work is a way of staying connected to that, and passing something on.
